Introduction to Study

The purpose of this course is to inform the students about the study plan of their chosen study programme and about studies at NEWTON University in general, including the various specialisations associated with the study programme, the ECTS based credit system, principles of using the internal information system IS NU, studies evaluation system, practical internships, the student exchange programme Erasmus etc.


Large part of the course is dedicated to introducing principles of scientific and academic work to the students, many of whom have no experience with this topic. The students will learn how to write academic and scientific texts, including such skills as choosing the right topics, defining appropriate goals, setting the right concept and structure of the text and choosing the best methodology and designing effective research methods.


Another topic studied during this course includes working with bibliographic sources, citations, paraphrases, principles of citation ethics, stylistics, grammar and graphics used in academic texts.
