Brave New World: TEDxBrno explored the future — with NEWTON by its side
What will the world look like in ten or twenty years? What challenges must humanity begin to address today? This year’s TEDxBrno carried the telling theme Brave New World and divided the day into three powerful segments: SOUL, VISION, and FLOW. Each focused on a different facet of the future — from inner freedom and mental resilience, through technological visions, to finding meaning in a fast-paced world. The opening question, “Why is something happening?”, provided a framework for the entire event — and inspirational speakers approached it from a variety of perspectives.
The talks ranged from powerful personal testimonies to systemic challenges. Entrepreneur Petr Šrámek reminded the audience that “the greatest threats to humanity’s survival aren’t just technological — they also include an ageing population and declining birth rates.” Mental coach Marian Jelínek added: “We must take care of our closest homes — our body and soul.” Eva Césarová introduced psychedelics as a tool for societal healing. Other key themes included gratitude, training the mind, ethical habit-building, and electromobility as a driver of sustainable change.
NEWTON University was proud to be a partner of this year’s event — and rightly so. The values highlighted by TEDxBrno closely align with the way NEWTON shapes its students: teaching them to think systemically, strengthen their mental resilience, seek meaning, and develop a clear vision. The future will not belong solely to those who can master technology — but to those who understand themselves.
